How to Advertise Your Services for Sale on Craigslist

If you would like to make some extra money, Craigslist.org is a great place to turn to. Don't worry, I am not going to tell you to go through your house and sell everything that isn't bolted down. There is another way to make money on Craigslist. That method involves selling a service for pay.

Right now, you may be asking yourself "what am I good at?" When seeking the answer to this question, don't overanalyze. It is actually very simple. Take a hobby you have, something you are passionate about, or something you have experience with through your current or former jobs. For example, if you work for a daycare center during the day, make some extra money babysitting on Friday or Saturday nights. You have childcare experience and can advertise your services and experiences on Craigslist.org. Other things you can do for pay include freelance writing, graphic design, web design, lawn mowing, painting, small construction projects, errand running, party planning, and more!

So now that you know some of the services you can list for pay on Craigslist, how do you get started?

Visit Craigslist.org and from the main page, choose your state and nearest city. On the left-hand side of the page, you will see a link titled "post to classifieds." Click on this link. A new page will appear. On that page, click on the link titled "services offered." Next, you will be presented with a list of categories. Choose the category that best fits what you have to offer. Now, you will be asked to create a free Craigslist account. Do this. After doing so, you will be able to proceed.

When writing your services offered listing, you don't want to overwhelm your readers with too much information, but you need to be detailed. The key is to be short and get right to the point. State the service you are offering for pay, the experience you have, and a method of contact. You can include your average rates if you want. As for the method of contact, it is best to leave both a phone number and an email address.

In addition to posting a services offered ad on Craigslist, you will want to search Craigslist. Some people would rather post an ad saying "I need a person who can" than spend hours sifting through all the paid services listed on Craigslist. To do this, you can visit Craigslist.org, choose your location, and then use the search box on the left. You want to search either gigs or services. Use a related keyword. For example, if you are looking for babysitting jobs, you want to use: babysitting, babysitter, childcare, or daycare.
